NASA is interested in applying Mobile Internet Protocol (mobile-IP) technologies to its space and aeronautics programs. In particular, mobile-IP will play a major role in the Advanced Aeronautic Transportation Technology (AATT), the Weather Information Communication (WINCOMM) and the Small Aircraft Transportation System; (SATS) aeronautics programs. This paper describes mobile-IP and mobile-routers-in particular, the features, capabilities, and initial performance of the mobile-router is presented. The application of mobile-router technology to NASA's space and aeronautics programs is also discussed  相似文献

This paper highlights the three aerodynamic pillars of aeronautics; namely, theory/CFD, wind-tunnel experiments and flight tests, and notes that at any given time these three are not necessarily at the same level of maturity. After an initial history of these three pillars, the focus narrows to a brief history of some vortical-flow flight experiments on slender aircraft that have impacted the advancement of aeronautics in recent decades. They include the F-106, Concorde, SR-71, light-weight fighters (F-16, F/A-18), and F-16XL. These aircraft share in common the utilization of vortical flow and have flown at transonic speeds during a part of the flight envelope. Due to the vast amount of information from flight and CFD that has recently become available for the F-16XL, this aircraft is highlighted and its results detailed. Lastly, it is interesting to note that, though complicated, vortical flows over the F-16XL aircraft at subsonic speeds can be reliably and generally well-predicted with the current CFD flow solvers. However, these solvers still have some problems in matching flight pressure data at transonic speeds. That this problem has been highlighted is both an advancement in aeronautics and a tempting prize to those who would seek its solution.  相似文献

The Legislative Update column reports on President Bush's supplemental budget request for the war in Iraq, the formation of a defense caucus in the House of Representatives, stabilized funding for airport security, the Department of Homeland Security budget, NASA's budget request, funding for NASA's aeronautics program, and NASA's new authorization. NASA's FY04 budget request is $15.47 billion, less than 1% more than FY03. The aeronautics program budget request for FY04 is $959 million, a decrease of 8.5% from FY03. One of the major problems that challenge today's aeronautics is the problem of improving flight safety. A zone of increased hazard is the aerospace in the vicinity of an airport. Here, one of aircraft accidents' causes is wake turbulence generated by aircraft. 能量吸收结构的性能对航空、航天等领域的人员和结构防护非常重要。针对一种系列嵌套圆环系统的能量吸收特性进行了理论、数值和实验研究。首先建立了考虑应变强化效应的系列嵌套圆环系统受刚性平板横向准静态压缩时的刚塑性理论模型;然后对双环和三环嵌套圆环系统进行了准静态压缩实验及有限元数值模拟,理论预测、数值模拟和实验测得的系列嵌套圆环系统的载荷-挠度曲线吻合很好;最后对将系列嵌套圆环系统应用到航空领域进行了探讨,以应用至航空座椅为例,建立了人体、座椅、能量吸收结构的数学模型,参照美国航空联邦局航空座椅动态实验标准,基于该模型计算得到了人体所受的腰椎负荷,并与不装备能量吸收结构时的腰椎负荷进行了比较,结果表明应用系列嵌套圆环系统可以有效地对人体进行防护。  相似文献
