硬X射线调制望远镜(HXMT)是一颗宽波段X射线(1~250 keV)天文卫星,其核心载荷高能X射线望远镜(HE)工作于硬X射线能区(20~250 keV),致力于实现硬X射线的高灵敏度巡天观测,描绘硬X射线天图,并对特殊天体作高灵敏度定点观测.为了获得高灵敏度,必须有效地抑制本底.本底主要是由轨道环境中的粒子(γ射线、质子、电子、中子)与探测器相互作用产生的.本文结合大量的描述近地空间本底的文献和最新的实测数据,整理出一套自洽的近地空间本底粒子的数据和公式,便于应用.并通过Geant 4软件模拟计算给出了HXMT的本底及本底随时间和轨道的变化.   相似文献

本文利用HEAO-1A2的2-60keV弥漫X射线资料,扣除了银河系起源的X弥漫背景影响,得到有关宇宙X背景的资料.在宇宙X背景的各向异性是由Compton-Getting效应引起的假设下,导出其各向异性度δ=(0.45±0.18)%,从而得到太阳系相对于2-60keV宇宙X背景“海”的运动速度V=(397±159)km/s.这个值与由微波背景观测资料得到的结论不矛盾.   相似文献

本文根据1986年1月-1992年12月期间,130个1-8?的X级别的X射线事件与相应背景发射水平所作的分析,发现90%以上的X级X射线事件,都发生在X射线背景发射≥C1(10-6W/m2)水平上,这一统计规律,可从耀斑加速的非热电子对色球等离于体的加热得到合理的解释.   相似文献

Preliminary observing achievements by the Super Soft X-ray Detector and the γ-ray Detector in the fields of cosmic gamma-ray bursts, solar X-ray, bursts and cosmic X-ray/γ-ray background radiation are summarized. The ROSAT all-sky survey and Guest Observer pointed observations have brought a wealth of high-quality data to the study of the soft X-ray diffuse background. Analysis of the spatial structure of the 1/4 keV flux, including observations of shadows cast by discrete clouds in the interstellar medium, have allowed the separation of the observed flux into foreground and background components supporting a spatially varying local component consistent with previous ideas of the local hot bubble, a highly variable galactic halo component, and an extragalactic background.  相似文献

Emissions from solar flares may reveal fast fluctuations, which can be attributed to small-scale injections of energetic electrons. In this paper, we perform numerical calculations of the Hα emission from a flaring atmosphere bombarded by a pulsating electron beam. We assume that the variation of the electron beam flux consists of two components: a fluctuation component and a background component. The results show that the amplitude of Hα fluctuations varies depending on the magnitude of the background flux of the electron beam. In the case of a higher background flux, the Hα fluctuations are more significant than in the case of a lower background flux. This result is compatible with the observations in which the Hα fluctuations appear preferentially near the hard X-ray maximum.  相似文献

We present results of optical follow-up observations of candidate ultra-luminous X-ray sources (ULXs). Using Keck optical spectroscopy, 17 of the candidates from the Colbert and Ptak [Colbert, E.J.M., Ptak, A.F. A catalog of candidate intermediate-luminosity X-ray objects. ApJS 143, 25–45, 2002] catalog have been identified; this is one of the largest sets of optical identifications of such objects thus far. Fifteen are background active galactic nuclei (AGN); two are foreground stars in our Galaxy. These findings are consistent with background and foreground object expectations, as derived from log N–log S relations. Also, the results are briefly discussed in terms of the spiral-galaxy/ULX connection.  相似文献

An analysis of the deep HEAO-2 survey has led us to predict that QSO's up to mB=20 should emit Lx=.2 Lo if radio-quiet, as compared with 0.7 Lo resulting for catalogued radio-loud; they contribute 20% of the X-ray background at 2 keV. Fainter QSO's can fill up the remaining quota but at the cost of definite and testable predictions on faint star counts and X-ray counts in deeper surveys. Saturation of the background beyond 3 keV, then mandatory, lead to explicit predictions on the spectra of distant QSO's.  相似文献

The combination of the large effective area and the very low internal background of the ROSAT Position Sensitive Proportional Counter provides an extremely sensitive instrument for the study of diffuse X-ray sources. In this paper we review new results on the X-ray structure of nearby clusters as measured with ROSAT. Substructure is a common feature in these objects. Such structure provides evidence that clusters have formed relatively recently through mergers of relatively large subunits. This behavior is predicted by hierarchical formation theories in a dense universe.  相似文献

There is growing evidence that the hard X-ray background (XRB) can be explained by a large population of obscured AGN. I review some of the results of recent deep X-ray surveys, and in particular I discuss the nature of the X-ray luminous emission-line galaxies which have emerged at the faintest X-ray fluxes. If obscured AGN do explain the XRB, a direct implication is that the majority of the energy produced by accretion in the universe is absorbed and not emitted directly. Deep submillimetre surveys with SCUBA have recently attracted a lot of attention, with the potential to allow us an unobscured view dust-enshrouded starformation at high redshift. It has generally been assumed that these sources are purely high redshift starforming galaxies, but if models for the XRB are correct then a significant fraction (∼20%) could contain a luminous AGN.  相似文献

The flight of the University of Birmingham X-ray Telescope, which took place between 29th July and 6 August 1985 is reviewed. Despite the competing demands of twelve other investigations on-board, it was found possible to plan an observing programme for the XRT which enabled a good (43%) utilisation of the total operating time to be achieved, and then to carry out this programme with high efficiency. An important element here was the inclusion within the XRT of a pointing mount, which enabled it to point with a degree of independence of the Orbiter vehicle. The background of spurious events in the detector, due mainly to energetic particles, was found to be low and well-behaved, except for occasional events which are not easy to distinguish from X-ray bursts. The spectral intensity of unrejected background varies from about 2.10−3/cm2sec keV at 8 keV to 5.10−4/cm2 sec keV at 25 keV.  相似文献

Recent results of solar system planets observed with the Japanese X-ray astronomy satellite Suzaku are reviewed. Thanks to the low instrumental background and good energy resolution, X-ray CCDs onboard Suzaku are one of the best probes to study diffuse X-ray emission. An overview of the Suzaku data of Jupiter and Earth is presented, along with preliminary results of Mars. Firstly, diffuse hard X-ray emission is discovered in 1–5 keV at Jovian radiation belts. Its spectrum is represented by a power-law continuum with a photon index of ∼1.4. This emission could originate from inverse-Compton scattering of solar photons by tens MeV electrons. Secondly, variable diffuse soft X-rays are serendipitously found during observations in the directions of the north ecliptic pole and galactic ridge. Good time correlations with the solar wind and emission lines found in the X-ray spectra are firm evidences of a solar wind charge exchange emission with Earth’s exosphere. Thirdly, diffuse X-ray emission from Martian exosphere via the solar wind charge exchange is investigated for the first time at solar minimum. A stringent upper limit on the density of the Martian exosphere is placed from the Suzaku data.  相似文献

A large area (400 cm2) low background X-ray telescope consisting of four collimated NaI/CsI scintillator phoswich detectors (each 100 cm2) was built and successfully flown several times during 1980–1984. The phoswich configuration enables one to eliminate X-ray background produced by high energy atmospheric and cosmic gamma-rays. Combined with large area, small field of view (5° × 5°) and large exposure time that was possible due to an on-board telescope pointing programmer, for the 20 – 120 Kev energy range, 3σ sensitivity achieved was 5 × 10−6 photon/cm2 sec Kev for exposure time of 104 sec at observational altitude of 4 g/cm2. The Instrument characteristics, relevant details on pointing system, detector system, associated electronics and telemetry and in-flight performance in 1983 and 1984 are presented.  相似文献

The X-ray background intensity around galaxies and rich clusters of galaxies is investigated in three energy bands using the ROSAT All-Sky Survey maps. It is found that an amplitude of the XRB enhancements surrounding the Abell clusters and high density areas in the Lick galaxy counts depends on photon energy. Excess flux generated in the surrounding of the galaxy concentrations is consistent with the thermal emission by hot gas postulated by hydrodynamic simulations.  相似文献

利用布里奇曼法进行了InAsSb半导体合金的生长,并对其结构、光学及电学特性进行了表征.研究发现,As替位掺杂造成X射线(111)衍射峰略微右移,同时其半高宽明显展宽.基于X射线衍射数据,利用Vegard定律计算出的As组分与能谱测量得到的结果基本吻合.此外,As的掺入使得材料背景载流子浓度略有上升.傅里叶变换红外光谱结果显示,As的替入使得材料带隙明显变小,拟合得到的光学带隙与通过Woolley-Warner经验公式得到的值定性一致.研究结果表明,As掺杂是减小InSb带隙,开拓其面向第二个大气窗口红外探测应用的有效途径.   相似文献

We present a forward modelling technique for calculating the surface X-ray spectra for a variety of lunar terrains. Our calculations considered variations in solar fluxes from solar quiescent condition to large flare activity (M1 flare), and expected elemental concentrations in the target, as well as yield, instrumental, and viewing geometry parameters for X-ray induced fluorescence from the lunar surface. Additionally, we present estimates of anticipated XRF signals from prominent Kα lines observable by a collimated 14 cm2 X-ray detector from a 100 km lunar orbit with ∼20 km spatial resolution. Our results show that Mg, Al and Si characteristic Kα lines can be observed for all solar conditions. The Ca Kα lines line can be differentiated from a fixed background during more energetic solar conditions such as C1 and M1 flares, whereas Ti and Fe lines are identifiable only during C1 and M1 solar flare conditions for Apollo 12 site composition. Both the Kα X-ray intensity ratios of Mg/Si and Al/Si correlate well with concentration ratios of Mg/Si and Al/Si, respectively, for B1 and M1 solar conditions. The Kα X-ray intensity ratios of Fe/Si and Ca/Si correlates with concentration ratios of Fe/Si and Ca/Si, respectively, for M1 solar condition. In principle, the modelling technique outlined here can be used to determine absolute elemental abundances (Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Ti and Fe) from X-ray spectra measured during recent and future lunar missions.  相似文献

We have selected four widely different flares from the early period of operations of the Hard X-Ray Imaging Spectrometer (HXIS) on SMM to illustrate the characteristic imaging properties of this experiment. For the small flare of April 4, 1980, we demonstrate the instrument's capability for locating a compact source. In the weak, but extensive, flare of April 6 we show how well the instrument can display spatial structure, and also the low level of the instrument background. In the 1B flare of April 7 we are able to locate positions of the X-ray emission in the soft and hard channels, and estimate the positional variations of the emission patches. Finally, in the IN flare of April 10, which produced the strongest hard X-ray burst we have seen so far, we repeat some of the studies made for the April 7 event, and also demonstrate the capability of the HXIS instrument to study the development, with high time resolution, of individual 8″ × 8″ elements of the flare.  相似文献

PolarLight is a compact soft X-ray polarimeter onboard a CubeSat, which was launched into a low-Earth orbit on October 29, 2018. In March 2019, PolarLight started full operation, and since then, regular observations with the Crab nebula, Sco X-1, and background regions have been conducted. Here we report the operation, calibration, and performance of PolarLight in the orbit. Based on these, we discuss how one can run a low-cost, shared CubeSat for space astronomy, and how CubeSats can play a role in modern space astronomy for technical demonstration, science observations, and student training.  相似文献

A multiwire proportional counter capable of imaging soft X-rays has been constructed. The position of an incident photon is obtained by measuring the induced charge signals on two orthogonal sets of cathode wire grids. The anode signal is used as trigger and energy signal. At a photon energy of 0.94 keV the achieved position resolution is 300 μm (FWHM), and the energy resolution is 45% (FWHM). With a five sided anticoincidence the background rejection efficiency is 90–95%.A small version of the counter has successfully been flown twice on sounding rocket payloads. X-ray images of the supernova remnants Puppis A and Cassiopeia A have been taken. As the prime focal plane detector for the ROSAT project we are building a version with an aperture of 80 mm.  相似文献

We present an analysis of seven clusters observed by XMM-Newton as part of our survey of 17 most X-ray luminous clusters of galaxies at z  0.2 selected for a comprehensive and unbiased study of the mass distribution in massive clusters. Using the public software FTOOLS and XMMSAS we have set up an automated pipeline to reduce the EPIC MOS and pn spectro-imaging data, optimized for extended sources analysis. We also developped a code to perform intensive spectral and imaging analysis particularly focussing on proper background estimate and removal. XMM-Newton deep spectro-imaging of these clusters allowed us to fit a standard β-model to their gas emission profiles as well as a standard MEKAL emission model to their extracted spectra, and test their inferred characteristics against already calibrated relations.  相似文献
