The three subaperture method is a technique for estimating the arrival angles of two targets located in the main beam of a radar. The problem of estimating the arrival angle of a target in the presence of multipath is considered, and it is shown how the accuracy of the three subaperture method can be improved by making use of the information that the amplitude of the direct ray is larger than that of the reflected ray.  相似文献

In the presence of sea-surface multipath monopulse radar signals from a low elevation target have three alternative paths in addition to the direct (radar-to-target) path due to reflections from the sea surface. The specular reflection causes significant signal fading. The diffuse reflection causes an approximately constant bias to the in-phase component of the monopulse ratio, which is the standard extractor of the direction of arrival (DOA) in the monopulse processing. The diffuse reflection also causes higher standard deviation to the in-phase component of the monopulse ratio. We propose a maximum likelihood (ML) angle extraction technique for low elevation targets of known average signal strength having a Rayleigh fluctuation. The results show that this method reduces the error of the estimated angle compared with the conventional monopulse ratio estimator. Subsequently, the ML angle extractor is modified for the unknown average signal strength case. This modified angle extractor has only a small performance degradation compared with the known average signal strength case, but it performs much better than the monopulse ratio based estimator. An algorithm to calculate the accuracy of the estimated angle (or height) is also presented. This angle extractor reduces the root-mean-square error (RMSE) by more than 50% in the signal processing stage when used in a low flying target tracking scenario. The same algorithm can be used to track sea skimmers.  相似文献

Extraction of elevation information with phased array search radar in the presence of specular reflection from sea surface is presented. Specular reflection from sea causes large peak errors in the measurement of low elevation angle. An algorithm based on complex indicated angle is derived to reduce specular reflection component. From the complex indicated angle and the exactly known or approximately known data, the authors can generate a specular reflection error finding function (SREFF). SREFF clearly indicates where the measurements are much affected by the specular reflection in the complex indicated angle data  相似文献

Elevation angle errors due to sea-reflected multipath are evaluated theoretically for a radar operating in an off-boresight monopulse tracking mode. The computer simulation accounts only for specular reflection. Angle estimates at three frequencies are assumed to be available. It is shown that one can improve upon a simple average of the three indicated angles by unequally weighting them according to rank (lowest, middle, or highest). Some sample computations show that there is an optimum difference between the three frequencies.  相似文献

Multipath Limitations on Low-Angle Radar Tracking   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
This paper investigates the problem of tracking targets at a low elevation angle in the presence of specular and diffuse multipath. Quantitative estimates are derived of the elevation angles, and hence, range, at which targets of specified height can be accurately tracked. A parametric approach is followed in which the long-standing uncertainty of how terrain forward-scatters at low grazing angles is recognized at the outset. Particular attention is given to the effects of target motion which permit rejection of multipath components falling outside the radar tracker's passband. The results are presented in a form which can be readily applied to a spectrum of radar trackers with differing requirements. The limited experimental ental data on the specular and diffuse scattering parameters for several generic types of terrain are applied to estimate the significance of multipath under different situations and to indicate specific areas in which additional experimental data are critically needed.  相似文献

Aircraft flight parameter estimation using acoustic multipath delays   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The signal emitted by an airborne acoustic source arrives at a stationary sensor located above a flat ground via a direct path and a ground-reflected path. The difference in the times of arrival of the direct path and ground-reflected path signal components, referred to as the multipath delay, provides an instantaneous estimate of the elevation angle of the source. A model is developed to predict the variation with time of the multipath delay for a jet aircraft or other broadband acoustic source in level flight with constant velocity over a hard ground. Based on this model, two methods are formulated to estimate the speed and altitude of the aircraft Both methods require the estimation of the multipath delay as a function of time. The methods differ only in the way the multipath delay is estimated; the first method uses the autocorrelation function, and the second uses the cepstrum, of the sensor output over a short time interval. The performances of both methods are evaluated and compared using real acoustic data. The second method provides the most precise aircraft speed and altitude estimates as compared with the first and two other existing methods.  相似文献

When the angle between the target heading and the range vector is not known a priori, a Doppler velocity radar must estimate them simultaneously by utilizing a longer section of the track. The conventional least squares iterative solution is compared with a new explicit alogorithm which utilizes range-rate derivatives. It is shown that the explicit algorithm is biased but is less sensitive to noise. The bias, however, can be estimated and removed. Hence, the computationally simpler explicit velocity estimation method yields better performance. An analytical closed form expression for the resulting mean square estimation error and simulation results are given.  相似文献

针对由多模传播引起的多普勒扩展杂波(SDC)严重影响天波超视距雷达(OTHR)对慢速船舰目标的检测这一问题,在基于多输入多输出体制的新一代天波超视距(MIMO-OTH)雷达系统下,利用空域信息抑制多模SDC。传统处理方法需要目标角度先验信息,而在实际中,该信息往往很难获得。为此,提出一种新的基于稀疏重建的多模杂波抑制算法。该算法将二维的稀疏角度搜索转变为一维的角度搜索,使运算量大大降低,且估计出的收发角(DOA-DOD)自动配对,同时可获得各个传播路径下信号的时间多普勒信息,达到了理想的MIMO-OTH雷达多模杂波抑制效果。仿真结果证明了所提算法的有效性。  相似文献

Tracking low-altitude targets over the sea is problematic because of interference between the direct and reflected signal. Standard monopulse trackers can experience large errors because of multipath maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) has been used to more accurately estimate the target height in the presence of multipath MLE is a model-fitting technique where the model parameters are chosen to maximize the likelihood function. It is shown that the type of observation model has a large effect on performance. Tracking performance is compared using three different observation models employing varying amounts of a priori information. Results are presented for different array sizes: eight and 32-element arrays and two-element subarrays typical of phase monopulse. Stap using knowledge-aided covariance estimation and the fracta algorithm   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In the airborne space-time adaptive processing (STAP) setting, a priori information via knowledge-aided covariance estimation (KACE) is employed in order to reduce the required sample support for application to heterogeneous clutter scenarios. The enhanced FRACTA (FRACTA.E) algorithm with KACE as well as Doppler-sensitive adaptive coherence estimation (DS-ACE) is applied to the KASSPER I & II data sets where it is shown via simulation that near-clairvoyant detection performance is maintained with as little as 1/3 of the normally required number of training data samples. The KASSPER I & II data sets are simulated high-fidelity heterogeneous clutter scenarios which possess several groups of dense targets. KACE provides a priori information about the clutter covariance matrix by exploiting approximately known operating parameters about the radar platform such as pulse repetition frequency (PRF), crab angle, and platform velocity. In addition, the DS-ACE detector is presented which provides greater robustness for low sample support by mitigating false alarms from undernulled clutter near the clutter ridge while maintaining sufficient sensitivity away from the clutter ridge to enable effective target detection performance  相似文献

A multipath channel model for wideband aeronautical telemetry links is presented. Channel sounding data were collected at Edwards AFB, CA, at both L-band and lower S-band. Frequency domain analysis techniques were used to evaluate candidate channel models. The channel model is composed of three propagation paths: a line-of-sight direct path and two specular reflections. The first specular reflection is characterized by a relative amplitude of 70% to 96% of the line-of-sight amplitude and a delay of 10-80 ns. This path is the result of "ground bounces" off the dry lake bed at Edwards and is a typical terrain feature at DoD test ranges located in the western United States. The amplitude and delay of this path are defined completely by the flight path geometry. The second path has much lower amplitude and a longer delay. The gain of this path is well modeled as a zero-mean complex Gaussian random variable. The relative amplitude is approximately 2% to 8% of the line-of-sight amplitude. The mean excess delay is 155 ns with an rms delay spread of 74 ns.  相似文献

在单脉冲测角体制下,由于多径回波信号的干扰,极大地降低了雷达低空目标仰俯角跟踪精度,甚至丢失目标。通过对多路径反射环境模型分析,得出了岸、海基单脉冲雷达低空目标跟踪时仰俯角测量误差的产生原因,提出将传统的多目标分辨算法(C2算法)应用于低角多径环境下目标俯仰角的跟踪测量,并在不同多径反射环境下对不同高度、不同飞行速度和飞行方向的目标进行了仿真,得到良好的仿真结果,表明该算法可较大地提高俯仰角跟踪测量精度。通过对仿真结果的分析,验证了该算法在低空目标跟踪中的有效性和可行性。  相似文献

The off-axis angle indicated by a conventional monopulse radar is only the real part of a "complex indicated angle." The presence of unresolved targets or multipath distorts the real part (causing an erroneous angle indication) and also produces an imaginary part, which can easily be measured by processing the normally unused quadrature-phase component of the difference signal. Under certain conditions the angles, amplitude ratio, and relative phase of two unresolved targets can theoretically be determined by meas urements of the complex indicated angle on two pulses separated by a short interval. In the special case of multipath, known relationships between the unresolved target and image theoretically permit determination of target elevation with a single pulse.  相似文献

A multipath propagation model for aeronautical telemetry over water at 8.0 GHz is presented. Data recorded during channel sounding experiments, conducted over the Pacific Ocean near Point Mugu, CA was used to model the multipath propagation. The modeling results show that a three-ray model consisting of line-of-sight propagation and two reflected propagation paths is a good fit for the measured channel frequency responses. One of the reflected propagation paths is a strong specular reflection determined by the geometry defined by the airborne transmitter, the ground-based receiver, and the sea surface. For the flight profiles used, the delay of this path is between 10 and 50 ns. The other propagation path is a more diffuse, random reflection whose amplitude is significantly smaller than the amplitude of the specular reflection and whose mean excess delay is 57 ns with an rms delay spread of 25 ns.  相似文献

飞行器翼身结合部构成的两面角反射器是一个很强的电磁散射源,但由于其一个表面弯曲,分析这种结构的散射十分困难。采用复射线展开法和几何绕射法分别处理镜面多次反射和边缘绕射,计算了这种复杂结构产生的电磁散射和雷达截面贡献,分析了翼身两面角和机身半径等几何参数对目标雷达截面的影响。结果表明是一种有效的雷达截面预估方法,通过结构几何参数的计算机优化,可以显著地减小翼身结合部的雷达截面贡献。  相似文献

The problem of estimation of angle of arrival in amplitude comparison monopulse (ACM) radars in the presence of internally generated thermal noise is considered. A pulse-type radar is assumed and angular noise is postulated to be absent. In the treatment of the problem, explicit inclusion of various simple models for the pulse returns is made to draw a relationship between the a priori statistics of the echo signals and the ability to estimate the angle of arrival in ACM radars. A maximum likelihood analysis is made to determine the form of the estimates of angle of arrival for the various cases and the accuracy of these estimates is evaluated as a function of the signal-to-noise ratio per hit and of the number of hits. Although most of the estimates considered have already received attention, many of the results are believed to be new.  相似文献

Recursive state equation estimation algorithms are derived to determine optimal estimation error covariance and state estimate for a linear dynamic system, driven by time-varying and positionverying (or angle-varying) functions whose a priori covariance are described. Retracing the same trajectory with the system measuring device causes the position varying function to repeat and can significantly reduce estimation errors. Applications for these algorithms include improving accuracy of a position dependent quantity to be mapped, or recursively processing radar or sonar data from repeating scans over the same area. Three types of return path patterns are considered: 1) multiple independent returns, 2) reverse returns, and 3) cyclical returns.  相似文献

A theoretical model of diffuse multipath reflections from rough surfaces is applied to the prediction of multipath power distribu tions in radar coordinates: elevation angle, time delay, and Dop pler frequency. These distributions are used to predict radar tracking errors in elevation angle, for both monopulse and scan ning antenna systems, and typical results are presented. These show a small increase in tracking error for scanning systems, on radially approaching targets, caused by sensitivity of these trackers to amplitude scintillation of the composite direct-plus multipath signal. Effects of knife-edge diffraction and of vegetation ion are briefly considered.  相似文献

The paper aims at contrasting two different ways of incorporating a priori information in parameter estimation, i.e., hard-constrained and soft-constrained estimation. Hard-constrained estimation can be interpreted, in the Bayesian framework, as maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) estimation with uniform prior distribution over the constraining set, and amounts to a constrained least-squares (LS) optimization. Novel analytical results on the statistics of the hard-constrained estimator are presented for a linear regression model subject to lower and upper bounds on a single parameter. This analysis allows to quantify the mean squared error (MSE) reduction implied by constraints and to see how this depends on the size of the constraining set compared with the confidence regions of the unconstrained estimator. Contrastingly, soft-constrained estimation can be regarded as MAP estimation with Gaussian prior distribution and amounts to a less computationally demanding unconstrained LS optimization with a cost suitably modified by the mean and covariance of the Gaussian distribution. Results on the design of the prior covariance of the soft-constrained estimator for optimal MSE performance are also given. Finally, a practical case-study concerning a line fitting estimation problem is presented in order to validate the theoretical results derived in the paper as well as to compare the performance of the hard-constrained and soft-constrained approaches under different settings  相似文献
