With the increasingly intense competition in the air transport industry ,survival and development have become an important focus of all airlines .Mergers and acquisitions are considered an effective and rel-atively quick ,cost-saving way to obtain the core competitiveness .With China Eastern Airlines＆#39;acquisition of Shanghai Airlines as an example ,this article compares the performances before and after the acquisi-tion ,and analyzes w hether such acquisitions can increase profit ,and produce the synergy and scale econo-my .
