Abstract:To make full use of the inherent high specific strength and high specific stiffness of the composite materials, and to realize the possibility of "tailoring"composite structures for particular design reguirements, a large scale composite structural Analysis and Synthesis System (COMPASS) is being developed in order to improve aircraft per-formance and shorten its developing period. Based en a successful"Aircraft Multi-constraints Optimal Design System" (YIDOYU-1), its prototype reference system (called YIDOYU- I ,) has been developed first. In this paper, preliminary numerical experience gained is given, and analytical capability and the feasibility of"structural tailoring"are demonstrated.
