Abstract:An extraordinary thrust to utilise UAVs is contained in the Defence Capability Initiative launched by the NATO Heads of State and Government at the Washington Summit on 20 April 1999. High priority requirements in this initiative are demanding future capability which may be best met with UAVs. Where are we going in the field of UAVs within NATO? Which potential roles and future requirements UAVs will have to fulfil?
