Abstract:The tests would certainly appeal to spectators if they were carried out in public: a bird-strike cannon fires salvos of rubber balls at aircraft. The size, weight and kinetic energy of the balls is roughly equivalent to that of the unfortunate creatures which can present such a danger in real life. This time the aircraft wing shrugged off the bombardment.
