| Abstract: | This paper presents an image compression method by utilizing the technigue of reconstructing image surface. From edge and a little low frequency information alone, a primary grey level image can be reconstructed. Final image can be restored by adding certain texture details to the primary grey level image, which will be dependent on the amount of detail in the image and compression ratio. In order to improve the coding performances, this paper also improves the algorthm of edge information extraction and the design of directional decomposition filter. The simulation results indicate that with this method, a satisfactory restored image can be obtained and the compression ratio is 45:1. |
