Abstract:A previous research is further developed, and a peculiar multivariated ap-proximate function which has a good numerical stability and intuitional meaning isproposed in this paper. By combining the approximate function with the two-levelmulti-point approximation concept, a more perfect relative optimum algorithm isformed. The method is applied to optimum design of frames, and, without any specialintermediate vanable, the cross-sectional dimensions of frames are directly selected asdesign variables. The results of numerical examples show that the present method is ofsatisfactory efficiency, which also testifies to the wide adaptability of the method.
