| Abstract: | This paper introduces a Computer Aided Process Planning System (CAPPS) for Electronic Discharge Machining (EDM), which used in selecting the optimum operation for a preset target. It also considers the other effective treating methods on EDM, such as milling, etc. Based on the known CAD knowledge and the signalments of workpiece's features, the input information is produced. Every feature is corresponded with a particular technological procedure. The system evaluates the procedure and caculates the optimum one according to the lowest-cost principle. This paper also states a general method on caculating the working hours. |
