Abstract:A conformal dome is typically an optical window that conforms smoothly to the external shape of a system platform to improve aerodynamics. The unusual shape of conformal domes creates tremendous challenges for manufacturing and testing. The predominance, difficulty of manufacturing and testing of conformal domes are introduced in this paper. The manufacturing and testing technologies which have been applied are discussed. Finally, the grinding process is validated. for the outside of a conformal dome.
