Abstract:The umanned combat aerial vehicle ( UCAV) is a brand - new air weapon system, and is mainly used for air defense suppression and deep strike during the current stage. In the 1990' s of the 20th century the USA taken the lead in placing the development of UCAV on its military equipment development planning, a-rousing the great concern from the militaries of every country in the world and resulting in the UCAV developing upsurge in the world.Consulting the open documents from home and abroad and the associated materials from the Internet, some primary issures on research and development of UCAV for the following seven aspects are discussed in this paper ; (1) General in UCAV; (2) Background and needs for UCAV development; ( 3 ) Operational requirements for UCAV; (4) Technical ways for UCAV research and development; (5) UCAV proposals under development in countries; (6) Problems to be resolved and key technologies for UCAV research and development; (7) Concluding remarks.
