Thermal drill sampling system onboard high-velocity impactors for exploring the subsurface of Europa

The planned Europa Jupiter System Mission (EJSM) will provide a unique opportunity to place scientific instruments onto the surface of Jupiter’s moon Europa in the late 2020s. After the Galileo mission, this will be a long awaited chance to have a close glimpse into some of the mysteries of this moon. Care must be taken in the choice of in-situ science that will be undertaken on the surface.

Fronts and thermohaline structure of the Brazil–Malvinas Confluence System

Fronts and thermohaline structure of the Brazil–Malvinas Confluence System (BMCS) are studied from climatic data, “Marathon Exp. Leg.8, 1984” data, and Sea surface temperature (SST) data base “ds277-Reynolds” (1981–2000). The South Atlantic Central Water (SACW) is divided in two main types: tropical (TW) and subtropical water (ST). Water masses, Fronts, Inter-Frontal and Frontal Zones are analysed and classified: (a) the water masses: Tropical Low-Salinity Water, Tropical Surface Water, Tropical Tropospheric Water, Subtropical Low-Salinity Water, Subtropical Surface Water, Subtropical Tropospheric Water. T,S characteristics of intermediate, deep and bottom water defined by different authors are confirmed and completed; (b) the Inter-Frontal Zones: Tropical/Brazil Current Zone, Subtropical Zone and Subantarctic Zone; (c) the Frontal Zones: Subtropical, Subantarctic and Polar, and (d) the Fronts: Subtropical Front of the Brazil Current, Principal Subtropical Front, North Subtropical Front, Subtropical Surface Front, South Subtropical Front, Subantarctic Surface Front, Subantarctic Front and Polar Front. Several stable T–S relationships are found below the friction layer and at the Fronts. The maximum gradient of the oceanographic characteristics occurs at the Brazil Current Front, which can be any of the subtropical Fronts, depending on season. Minimum mean depth of the pycnocline coincides with the Fronts of the BMCS, indicating the paths of low-salinity shelf waters into the open ocean. In the work it is shown how to recover the horizontal and vertical thermohaline structure of waters from satellite data RSMAS SST.     

The primordial Helium-4 abundance determination: systematic effects

By extrapolating to O/H = N/H = 0 the empirical correlations Y–O/H and Y–N/H defined by a relatively large sample of 45 Blue Compact Dwarfs (BCDs), we have obtained a primordial ⁴Helium mass fraction Y _p=0.2443±0.0015 with dY/dZ=2.4±1.0. This result is in excellent agreement with the average Y _p=0.2452±0.0015 determined in the two most metal-deficient BCDs known, I Zw 18 (Z /50) and SBS 0335–052 (Z /41), where the correction for He production is smallest. The quoted error (1) of 1% is statistical and does not include systematic effects. We examine various systematic effects including collisional excitation of hydrogen lines, ionization structure and temperature fluctuation effects, and underlying stellar Hei absorption, and conclude that combining all systematic effects, our Y _p may be underestimated by 2–4%. Taken at face value, our Y _p implies a baryon-to-photon number ratio =(4.7^+1.0 _–0.8)×10^–10 and a baryon mass fraction _b h ² ₁₀₀=0.017±0.005 (2), consistent with the values obtained from deuterium and Cosmic Microwave Background measurements. Correcting Y _p upward by 2–4% would make the agreement even better.     

声发射监测钻头折断的实验研究

 金属切削过程中会发出声讯号。用声发射技术监测刀具破损是一个很有潜力的新方法。本文研究了声发射技术在钻头折断在线监测中的应用。实验结果表明,所设计的实验监测系统能可靠地监测钻头的折断,并可提前预报直径大于1.5mm钻头的折断。     

CNC六轴钻头刃磨机运动控制问题的分析与试验研究

 由微机控制的新型钻头刃磨机具有六根受计算机控制的运动轴。根据给定的钻头几何参数,利用微机计算出相应的刃磨参数,通过控制软件设计,可以刃磨多种钻型且具有较高的几何精度和重复精度,经刃磨试验表明该机床可以广泛用于制造领域内的钻头刃磨。     

对接机构分系统研制

介绍了我国神舟八号飞船和天宫一号目标飞行器对接试验的对接机构分系统的组成、控制时序、设计方案,以及可靠性与安全性。给出了对接机构分系统研制中总体设计、动力学仿真、试验和关键部件研制等关键技术,以及整机特性测试、连接分离试验、热真空对接与分离试验、寿命试验等验证情况。回顾了对接机构分系统的研制过程。     

月壤剖面锥型螺旋刃成孔钻头设计

针对月壤剖面钻进成孔探测需求,提出一种锥型螺旋刃成孔钻头,建立其钻进排屑性能的理论模型,并以此开展钻头结构参数的优化设计。在此基础上,分析螺旋刃切削姿态及其切削参数,基于直线刃平面切削理论建立锥型螺旋刃成孔钻头钻进切削负载预估模型,开展锥型螺旋刃成孔钻头模拟月壤剖面钻进负载特性试验验证。研究结果表明,相比于直线刃钻头,锥型螺旋刃成孔钻头的钻进排屑性能更优,而且钻进切削负载模型与试验结果具有较好的吻合度。研究成果对我国拟实施的月面钻取采样工程具有重要的借鉴价值。     

赵振兴院士访谈

2009年4月13日,赵振业院士（上图左）接受了本刊编辑部主任李华文（上图右）的专访。在访谈中,赵院士介绍了应用于WP7、WJ6等发动机压气机叶片和盘的不锈钢GX-8（1Cr12Ni2WMoVnbA）的研制历程,指出该钢的研制融合了西方国家和前苏联合金钢的设计思路,兼具高耐热性和高冲击韧性;介绍了中国第1个航空中温超高强度钢GC-19（38Cr2Mo2VA）的研制历程,指出该钢的应用使得中国制造的飞机后机身构件具有超高强度的设计目标得以实现;介绍了为解决一直困扰中国制造的飞机起落架寿命短的问题而研制的国产300M钢,指出该钢的研制成功使中国飞机起落架用超高强度钢从此走上了双真空高纯熔炼之路,进而使中国飞机起落架从此走上了长寿命、高可靠性之路;最后介绍了中国尚未进行重点研究发展的轴承齿轮钢在国外的研制情况。
