Multipath fading often poses a serious hindrance in radiocommunication. The application of a least-mean-square (LMS)adaptive array to the problem of multipath fading reduction is discussed. However, it is known that multipath components are in general correlated with one another. We examine the effect of the correlation on the performance of the LMS adaptive array. When the correlation coefficient does not equal or approximate 1, the LMS adaptive array suppresses the multipath signals significantly by nulling. On the other hand, when the correlation coefficient nearly equals 1, the LMS adaptive array prevents the output signalpower from decreasing. Therefore, the LMS adaptive array mayreduce the multipath fading effectively for any correlation coefficient value. A reference signal in the LMS adaptive array is also discussed. It is shown that synchronization in the referencesignal generation must be extremely accurate. Moreover, aprocessor configuration is proposed which may generate thereference signal with the required accuracy.  相似文献

Presented and investigated here is a simple and fast adaptive algorithm for linear power inversion arrays whose nulls can be accurately steered by controlling the element weights. Based on measurements of the powers of the three signals derived from the array output and the output of an auxiliary beamformer, the algorithm tracks unknown jammers in the environment by steering the nulls of the array one by one in a cyclical time-multiplexed manner. When compared with the least mean square (LMS) algorithm, the proposed algorithm has about the same implementation complexity, a better convergence behavior and the advantage that nulls are directly available  相似文献

The performance of an LMS adaptive array with a frequency hopped, spread spectrum desired signal and a CW interference signal is examined. It is shown that frequency hopping has several effects on an adaptive array. It causes the array to modulate both the amplitude and the phase of the received signal. Also, it causes the array output SINR (signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio) to vary with time and thus increases the bit error probability for the received signal. Typical curves of the desired signal modulation and the time-varying SINR at the array output are presented. It is shown how the array performance depends on hopping frequency, frequency jump size, interference frequency, signal arrival angles, and signal powers.  相似文献

Adaptive arrays based on the LMS algorithm require the generation of a reference signal which is usually derived from the array output. A particular problem associated with this technique is that of a phase shift in the reference signal loop. The effects of this phase shift on the performance of an N-element adaptive array are discussed. It is shown that a reference loop phase shift causes the array weights to cycle, thereby frequency translating the signals at the output. The weight-cycling frequency is related to various system parameters of an N-element array. In particular, it is observed that the cycling frequency increases as the number of antennas (N) increases.  相似文献

A least mean square (LMS) adaptive array requires a reference signal. When the desired signal contains a pilot signal, it may be used as the reference signal. In this paper the steady-state performance of an LMS adaptive array in which the pilot signal is used as the reference signal is examined. It is shown that the LMS adaptive array occasionally suppresses the desired signal. The loop gain, which is an important parameter, is also considered.  相似文献

An extended sample matrix inversion (SMI) algorithm can be used for minimizing the mse (mean-squared error) between the output of an N-element adaptive array and a desired reference signal. 为了解决最小均方(LMS)算法的稳定性以及收敛速度和稳态误差之间的矛盾,提出了一种复数型自适应变步长的LMS算法,它的权系数的调整取决于误差曲面在新权值点上的梯度。分析了新算法的收敛特性以及参数选择对算法性能的影响。算法具有较快的收敛速度、鲁棒稳定性且运算小易于实现的特点。计算机仿真的结果与理论分析相一致,证实了算法的收敛性能优于标准的LMS算法并且具有较好的实用性。  相似文献

We consider a least mean square (LMS) adaptive array [1] receiving a phase modulated interference signal. The phase modulation is assumed to be periodic and to have finite bandwidth. Under these assumptions, we determine the time-varying array weights, the modulation on the array output desired signal, and the time-varying output interference-to-noise ratio (INR) and SINR (signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio). We present numerical results describing the behavior of a 2-element adaptive array that receives an interference signal with sinusoidal phase modulation. We show how each signal parameter (arrival angle, power, modulation index, and modulation frequency) affects the performance of the array.  相似文献

在分析传统自适应波束形成的基础上,首次提出了一种小波域的自适应波束形成算法。与通常的自适应波束形成算法相比,该算法利用小波变换对小波空间进行了分解,信号经小波变换自相关性会下降,收敛速度提高,同时在此分解过程中,根据信号与白噪声在不同尺度上的小波变换模极大值表现完全不同的特性进行信号的消噪。理论分析和仿真结果表明了该算法收敛速度较快,且计算量增加较少,易于实时实现,而且具有较好性能。同时仿真实验表明该算法收敛速度与小波基和尺度的选择有关,尺度越大收敛速度越快;对于同一小波基系列,小波基的正则性越好收敛速度越快。  相似文献

 考虑到惯导信息辅助GPS(GPS/INS)接收机对干扰抑制实时性的要求,提出一种基于Kalman滤波的GPS/INS接收机自适应干扰抑制方法。自适应广义旁瓣相消(GSC)多采用低复杂度最小均方(LMS)算法更新权矢量,收敛速率较低,严重时会导致接收机定位中断。首先利用Householder变换构建GSC下支路的阻塞矩阵,用于阻塞任意二维阵型阵列接收的期望信号;再用Kalman滤波自适应更新下支路权矢量,从而有效提高阵列输出信干噪比(SINR)。理论分析和仿真结果说明本文方法可有效抑制干扰对接收机的影响,且具有实时性高的特点。  相似文献

The effect of differential time delay in the feedback loops of an LMS adaptive array is examined. Differential time delay is shown to have two effects on array performance. First, it causes the weights to oscillate during weight transients. Second, it degrades the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) from the array. Weight oscillation occurs when the phase shifts in the LMS loop are not matched at the signal carrier frequency. SINR degradation depends on signal bandwidth: the wider the bandwidth, the larger the degradation.  相似文献

A computationally efficient scheme for estimating the digital instantaneous frequencies of narrowband inputs is introduced. The frequency estimates are obtained by searching for minima of the inverse input power spectrum. This spectrum is estimated at each input sample from the weights of an adaptive linear predictor which uses the LMS (least mean square) algorithm to update its weights. The related minima are sought via an iterative search algorithm, referred to as the iterative frequency estimator. This algorithm is computationally more efficient than available methods, and also provides a higher resolution. Simulation results are included; these include tracking of random message sequences in FM signals, and the formant frequency estimation of speech.  相似文献

The author defines a phase-only gradient-based adaptive algorithm analogous to the least mean square (LMS) algorithm. Two phase-only perturbation algorithms are then defined. It is shown that the gradient for the perturbation algorithms can be obtained by cross-correlating binary perturbation sequences, that are applied to the adaptive phases, with the resulting instantaneous output power or voltage. It is also shown that a single set of phase-only adaptive weights can be used to simultaneously null interference in multiple output beams. Simulation results are presented for all of the new algorithms. The phase-only perturbation techniques eliminate the need for element level receivers and support low cost retrofitting of adaptive nulling on phased arrays by using conventional beamsteering circuits to apply the adaptive weights  相似文献

The performance of a least mean square (LMS) adaptive array in the presence of a pulsed interference signal is examined. It is shown that a pulsed interference signal has two effects. First, it causes the array to modulate the desired signal envelope (but not its phase). Second, it causes the array output signal-to-interferenceplus-noise ratio (SINR) to vary with time. The desired signal modulation is evaluated as a function of signal arrival angles, powers and interference pulse-repetition frequency (PRF) and pulsewidth. It is shown that the signal modulation is small except when the interference arrives close to the desired signal. To evaluate the effect of the time-varying SINR, it is assumed that the array is used in a differential phase-shift keyed (DPSK) communication system. It is shown that the SINR variation causes a noticeable but not disastrous increase in the bit error probability.  相似文献

The effects of multiplier offset voltages in adaptive arrays are examined. Multiplier offset voltages arise when active circuits are used to implement the error-by-signal multipliers required in an array based on the LMS algorithm. These offset voltages are known from experimental work to have a strong effect on array performance. It is first shown how multiplier offset voltages may be included in the differential equations for the array weights. Then their effect on weight behavior is studied. It is found that the offset voltages affect the final values of the weights, but not the time constants. Furthermore, the effect they have is influenced by the amount of element noise in the array. An adequate amount of noise is necessary to minimize weight errors due to offset voltages. An example is treated to show the effect of offset voltages on the final array weights and the output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). With offset voltages present, it is found that there is a maximum SNR that can be obtained from the array. A specific input SNR is required to obtain this maximum output SNR. Finally, it is shown that a finite operating range for the weights places a further restriction on the acceptable values of offset voltages and noise.  相似文献

The LMS adaptive array requires an integrator in each weight feedback control loop. In practice the integrator is often replaced by a low-pass filter, i.e., by a filter with a single pole at s = - ? (where s is complex frequency). The effect of this pole position on array performance is examined. It is shown that to obtain optimal performance from the array, ? must be less than k?2, where k is the loop gain and ?2 is the thermal noise power per element. When at exceeds k?2, the output signal-to-inter ference-plus-noise ratio from the array is degraded for intermediate values of interference power.  相似文献

Experimental results from a four-element, linear, half-wavelength spacing, adaptive-array antenna under the control of the least mean square (LMS) algorithm are presented. The array is found to be capable of nulling a 70-MHz signal to -35 dB below a desired signal over a 5-MHz bandwidth. The antenna processing gain is constant over a desired signal-to-jammer signal power ratio range from -20 dB to 5 dB. A sharp reduction in processing gain is observed for angular separations between jammer and desired signal of less than 10°. Antenna patterns taken with weights set in 300 iterations of the LMS algorithm show that the one strong, one weak jammer combination has a longer weight convergence time and reduced processing gain compared with a two strong jammers combination. Contours of constant desired signal-to-jammer signal power ratio, after adaptive antenna processing, reveal a complex shape for communication between air and ground due to the finite angular resolution of the adaptive antenna.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the problem of time constants in adaptive arrays. The paper presents a improved form of an adaptive array feedback loop, which has the property that its time constants are fixed. This property is an advantage over the well-known least mean square (LMS) loop, for which time constants depend on received signal power. Fixed time constants are of interest because they simplify dynamic range problems for adaptive arrays in communication and radar systems.  相似文献
