Adaptive array algorithms based on sample matrix inversion (SMI) require the availability of a secondary data set to “train” the adaptive filter. Numerous data-independent rules have been proposed for selecting this training data. However, such rules often perform poorly in inhomogeneous environments. We present data-adaptive methodologies for selecting the training data. The techniques, called “Power Selected Training” and “Power Selected Deemphasis”, use measurements of the interference environment to select training data. Among the few known adaptive filtering algorithms which have an embedded (integrated) constant false alarm rate (CFAR) performance feature, the generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) test algorithm has been found to be robust in non-Gaussian clutter. This paper examines the detection performance of the GLR algorithm in nonhomogeneous/nonstationary clutter environments which lead to nonidentical distribution of secondary (training) data. For two common types of nonhomogeneity, i.e., the so-called “signal contamination” and “clutter edge”, the asymptotic detection performance is derived and compared with simulations. These asymptotic results are relatively simple to use and they predict the GLR performance in nonhomogeneous environments quite well. The GLR performance loss due to the nonhomogeneity is also evaluated. It is found that the “generalized angle” between the desired and contaminating signal plays an important role in the study of the effects of signal contamination. It is also found that the performance degradation due to the clutter edge depends largely on the width of the clutter spectrum and target-clutter Doppler separation  相似文献

We consider a new scheme for distributed detection based on a “censoring” or “send/no-send” idea. The sensors are assumed to “censor” their observations so that each sensor sends to the fusion center only “informative” observations, and leaves those deemed “uninformative” untransmitted. The main result of this work is that with conditionally independent sensor data and under a communication rate constraint, in order to minimize the probability of error, transmission should occur if and only if the local likelihood ratio value observed by the sensor does not fall in a certain single interval. Similar results are derived from Neymarr-Pearson and distance-measure viewpoints. We also discuss simplifications for the most interesting case that the fusion center threshold is high and the communication constraint is severe. We compare censoring with the more common binary-transmission framework and observe its considerable decrease in communication needs. Finally, we explore the use of feedback to achieve optimal performance with very little communication  相似文献

This paper is concerned with issues and techniques associated with the development of both optimal and adaptive (data dependent) reduced-rank signal processing architectures. Adaptive algorithms for 1D beamforming, 2D space-time adaptive processing (STAP), and 3D STAP for joint hot and cold clutter mitigation are surveyed. The following concepts are then introduced for the first time (other than workshop and conference records) and evaluated in a signal-dependent versus signal independent context: (1) the adaptive processing “region-of-convergence” as a function of sample support and rank, (2) a new variant of the cross-spectral metric (CSM) that retains dominant mode estimation in the direct-form processor (DFP) structure, and (3) the robustness of the proposed methods to the subspace “leakage” problem arising in many real-world applications. A comprehensive performance comparison is conducted both analytically and via Monte Carlo simulation which clearly demonstrates the superior theoretical compression performance of signal-dependent rank-reduction, its broader region-of-convergence, and its inherent robustness to subspace leakage  相似文献

 基于三维裂纹特征,本文提出了一种测量孔边角裂纹近门槛区疲劳裂纹扩展速率及门槛值的实验方法。为了得到真实的裂纹形状变化规律,首先针对具体试样用勾线方法建立其“b-a”标定曲线。参照门槛值的标准测试方法,本文仅需测量“a”方向裂纹尺寸,然后用标定曲线换算共相应的“b”方向尺寸。这样我们就可以得到关于“a”和“b”的两组数据,而这两个方向代表孔边角裂纹特征方向。通过分别对30CrMaSiNi2A和2024T3材料的实测研究,证明本文提出的测试方法是可行的。在实验数据基础上,进行了结果的统计对比,得出:1.“a”和“b”方向的近门槛区疲劳裂纹扩展速率及门槛值基本一致;2.孔径大小对实验结果没有影响。;3.同样厚度情况下,孔边角裂纹试样的近门槛区疲劳裂纹扩展速率编高,而门槛值相应较小。  相似文献

Time delay detection and tracking problems have been investigated in previous papers. The approach used is applicable to many problems. In those papers, a first-order Markov process was assumed for the signal parameter (time delay) dynamic model and a constant signal parameter value was assumed within a “block”, or processing unit of time. A performance degradation is incurred when the signal parameter value is “nearly constant-rate”. Also, “crossing” signal parameter values from different signals cannot be tracked. The detector-trackers will “switch” signals. To combat these difficulties, the signal parameter dynamic model is assumed to be a second-order Markov process, and signal parameter rate of change information is computed within a block. A rate-aided multisignal detection and tracking system is developed with these assumptions  相似文献

Traditionally, space-time adaptive processing (STAP) for airborne early warning (AEW) radar has been applied to uniform linear arrays (ULAs). However, when considering the overall radar system, electronically scanned circular arrays have advantages: a better combination of even and continual angular and temporal coverage, and mechanical simplicity because it does not need to rotate. This paper answers the question “How well does STAP perform when applied to a circular array?” This paper shows that for the AEW mission, circular arrays are indeed STAP compatible. However, when conventional STAP algorithms are used there may be a small loss in performance when compared with a ULA. With some care in the choice and implementation of the STAP algorithm, the majority of the degradation is at close ranges, where the target returns are relatively strong. At long ranges performance is barely affected. A STAP algorithm which compensates for the circular array environment and provides better performance than existing algorithms is presented  相似文献

A technique is described for obstacle detection, based on the expansion of the image-plane projection of a textured object, as its distance from the sensor decreases. Information is conveyed by vectors whose components represent first-order temporal and spatial derivatives of the image intensity, which are related to the time to collision through the local divergence. Such vectors may be characterized as patterns corresponding to “safe” or “dangerous” situations. We show that the essential information is conveyed by single-bit vector components, representing the signs of the relevant derivatives. We use two recently developed, high capacity classifiers, employing neural learning techniques, to recognize the imminence of collision from such patterns  相似文献

Ideally, a measure of the security of a system should capture quantitatively the intuitive notion of “the ability of the system to resist attack.” That is, it should be operational, reflecting the degree to which the system can be expected to remain free of security breaches under particular conditions of operation (including attack). Instead, current security levels at best merely reflect the extensiveness of safeguards introduced during the design and development of a system. Whilst we might expect a system developed to a higher level than another to exhibit “more secure behavior” in operation, this cannot be guaranteed; more particularly, we cannot infer what the actual security behavior will be from knowledge of such a level. In the paper we discuss similarities between reliability and security with the intention of working toward measures of “operational security” similar to those that we have for reliability of systems. Very informally, these measures could involve expressions such as the rate of occurrence of security breaches, or the probability that a specified “mission” can be accomplished without a security breach. This new approach is based on the analogy between system failure and security breach, but it raises several issues which invite empirical investigation. We describe performance improvement techniques for a multiple model adaptive estimator (MMAE) used to detect and identify control surface and sensor failures on an unmanned flight vehicle. Initially failure identification was accomplished within 4 s of onset, but by removing the “β dominance” effects, bounding the hypothesis conditional probabilities, retuning the Kalman filters, increasing the penalty for measurement residuals, decreasing the probability smoothing, and increasing residual propagation, the identification time was reduced to 2 s  相似文献

 近10年来,随着对动态断裂问题的深入研究,出现了众多针对动态裂纹扩展的计算模型,但它们都存在着一定的缺陷。对动态裂纹扩展问题,计算模型的成败取决于解决该问题的变分方程、扩展的模拟方法以及对动态裂纹附近的应力、应变场的表达是否合理。但文献所用的常规元、文献对裂纹扩展使用的“逐步节点力释放”法和文献采用的变分方程“energy consistent variational statement”都存在着某些不合理因素,因此计算结果不很理想。另外,由于模拟裂纹扩展的计算量非常之大,如何在保证精度的前提下节省计算时间也是需要进一步解决的问题。本文力求通过采用新的变分方程、新的奇异元、利用文献的扩展模拟方式克服以上存在的种种不足。  相似文献

A new class of techniques for multisensor fusion and target recognition is proposed using sequence comparison by dynamic programming and multiple model estimation. The objective is to fuse information on the kinematic state and “nonkinematic” signature of unclassified targets, assessing the joint likelihood of all observed events for recognition. Relationships are shown to previous efforts in pattern recognition and state estimation. This research applies “classical” speech processing-related and other sequence comparison methods to moving target recognition, extends the efforts of previous researchers through improved fusion with kinematic information, relates the proposed techniques to Bayesian theory, and applies parameter identification methods to target recognition for improved understanding of the subject in general. The proposed techniques are evaluated and compared with existing approaches using the method of generalized ambiguity functions, which lends to a form of Cramer-Rao lower bound for target recognition  相似文献

A critical problem in the design of ultra-reliable fault tolerant systems is that of how to bring a redundant member back on-line, after a transient fault, without degrading critical real-time functions. Recovery from transients is imperative to maintain necessary system reliability in the face of transient errors which have been estimated to occur at a rate of 5 to 100 times that of permanent failures. Excessive delays associated with recovery become a problem when as much as 1 Mbytes of RAM in the faulty processor must be made congruent with the processing majority while maintaining full functionality of critical, real-time control algorithms. This paper describes a hardware assisted recovery technique which uses memory “tags” to determine which memory segments need to be restored such that recovery can be performed incrementally without affecting real-time operational tasks. Also presented is performance data associated with this technique's application to a Draper Laboratory quad-redundant processor responsible for vehicle control of a manned undersea vehicle  相似文献

 为了获得高性能的指尖密封结构型式,根据指尖密封的结构组成特点,提出了“定制”型线和“广义”型线概念下的指尖密封结构优化策略,以及反映指尖密封基本组成特征和具有“单元叠加”功能的最小优化单元。通过采用统一优化法和分步优化法对两类指尖密封结构的多目标优化问题进行了优化分析,研究结果表明,“定制”型线指尖密封结构优化和 “广义”型线指尖密封结构优化的策略和方法,可以达到同步降低指尖密封迟滞率和综合刚度的多目标优化目标,是获得具有良好综合性能的指尖密封结构的有效途径。从工程意义上讲,“广义”型线指尖密封结构优化技术更具选择指尖密封性能优化取向和程度的优势。  相似文献

An approach to detection and diagnosis of multiple failures in a dynamic system is proposed. It is based on the interacting multiple-model (IMM) estimation algorithm, which is one of the most cost-effective adaptive estimation techniques for systems involving structural as well as parametric changes. The proposed approach provides an integrated framework for fault detection, diagnosis, and state estimation. It is able to detect and isolate multiple faults substantially more quickly and more reliably than many existing approaches. Its superiority is illustrated in two aircraft examples for single and double faults of both sensors and actuators, in the forms of “total”, “partial”, and simultaneous failures. Both deterministic and random fault scenarios are designed and used for testing and comparing the performance fairly. Some new performance indices are presented. The robustness of the proposed approach to the design of model transition probabilities, fault modeling errors, and the uncertainties of noise statistics are also evaluated  相似文献

Operational deficiencies exist in the current ability to perform high resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) targeting for precision strike missions in difficult electronic countermeasure (ECM) and anti-aircraft environments. Increasingly sophisticated enemy defenses require that fire control information be derived from highly maneuverable aircraft trajectories rather than traditional straight-and-level flight. In addition, target area aspect information is needed to determine optimal attack approaches. These imaging and targeting conditions impose severe performance requirements on the sensor aircraft motion compensation system (MCS), and dictate the need for sophisticated algorithms to counteract ECM threats. Multiple model adaptive estimation (MMAE) is applied to the Variable-In-flight Stability Test Aircraft (VISTA) F-16 flight control system at a low dynamic pressure flight condition (0.4 M at 20000 ft). Single actuator and sensor failures are addressed first, followed by dual actuator and sensor failures. The system is evaluated for complete or “hard” failures, partial or, “soft” failures, and combinations of hard and soft actuator and sensor failures. Residual monitoring is discussed for single and dual failure scenarios. This paper considers the use of “stochastically constrained” spatial and spatio-temporal adaptive processing in multimode nonstationary interference (“hot clutter”) mitigation for scenarios that do not allow access to a group of range cells that are free from the backscattered sea/terrain signal (“cold clutter”). Since supervised training methods for interference covariance matrix estimation using the cold-clutter-free ranges are inappropriate in this case, we introduce and analyze adaptive routines which can operate on range cells containing a mixture of hot and cold clutter and possible targets (unsupervised training samples). One of the more complex systems developed during the cold war was the BOMARC missile system developed by Boeing and the University of Michigan. The BO in the acronym stands for Boeing and the MARC Stands for Michigan Aeronautical Research Center. Boeing built two versions of the BOMARC, the first one designated “IM99A” and the second “IM99B”. The “A” version used a liquid propellant boost system with a range of about 250 miles and the “B” used a solid propellant for boost and had a range of at least 400 miles.
