A 1,200-W solar AMTEC (alkali metal thermal-to-electric conversion) power system concept was developed and integrated with an advanced global positioning system (GPS) satellite. The critical integration issues for the SAMTEC with the GPS subsystems included: (1) packaging within the Delta II launch vehicle envelope; (2) deployment and start-up operations for the SAMTEC; (3) SAMTEC operation during all mission phases; (4) satellite field of view restrictions with satellite operations; and (5) effect of the SAMTEC requirements on other satellite subsystems. The SAMTEC power system was compared with a conventional planar solar array/battery power system to assess the differences in system weight, size, and operations, Features of the design include the use of an advanced multitube, vapor anode AMTEC cell design with 24% conversion efficiency, and a direct solar insolation receiver design with integral LiF salt canisters for energy storage to generate power during the maximum solar eclipse cycle, The modular generator design consists of an array of multitube AMTEC cells arranged into a parallel/series electrical network with built-in cell redundancy. Our preliminary assessment indicates that the solar generator design is scaleable over a 500 to 2,500-W range. No battery power is required during the operational phase of the GPS mission. SAMTEC specific power levels greater than 5 We/kg and 160 We/m2 are anticipated for a mission duration of 10 to 12 years in orbits with high natural radiation backgrounds 相似文献

The existing technique of rating the external loads on a helicopter with skid type landing gear according to Airworthiness Standards [1] is analyzed and the results of comparing with design and experimental studies are presented. The main existing problems both in design simulation and the system of requirements to the conditions of rating the loads on the skid landing gear helicopter are identified. One of the most important activities of control system design is its verification. Verification ensures that the controlled system will behave as expected under any circumstances it may operate. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to introduce a new method for the verification of aircraft control systems. The focus of this method is on aircraft systems that are characterized as hybrid, i.e., that merge continuous and discrete dynamics. The method proposed is divided into two main parts: the system modeling and the verification of behavioral properties. In the first part, Petri net, differential equation systems, and object oriented concepts are used concurrently in order to model complex hybrid systems. In the second part, the distributed nature of the model is explored in order to decompose a complex verification problem into series of simple local problems. Linear logic is used as a basis of a theorem-proving approach for the verification from the discrete-event point of view. The verification method has been applied to a number of case studies. Chamfered inserts have found broader applications in metal cutting process especially in high-performance machining of hard-to-cut materials for their excellent edge resistance and cutting toughness. However, excessive heat generation and resulting high cutting temperature eventually cause severe tool wear and poor surface integrity, which simultaneously limits the optimal selection of machining parameters. In the present study, an analytical thermal–mechanical model is proposed for the prediction of the three-dimensional (3-D) temperature field in cylindrical turning with chamfered round insert based on a modified slip-line field approach. First, an innovative discretization method is introduced in a general 3-D coordinate system to provide a comprehensive demonstration of the irregular cutting geometry and heat generation zones. Then, a plasticity-theory-based slip-line field model is developed and employed to determine the intensities and geometries of every elementary heat sources in Primary Deformation Zones (PDZ), Secondary Deformation Zones (SDZ) and Dead Metal Zones (DMZ). At last, a 3-D analytical model is suggested to calculate the temperature increases caused by the entire heat sources and associated images. The maximum cutting temperature region predicted is found existing upon the chip-tool contact area rather than the tool edge. Moreover, the rationalities of cutting parameters employed are analyzed along with theoretical material removal rates and ensuing maximum cutting temperatures. The results indicate that the cutting conditions with large depth of cut and high cutting speed are more desirable than those with high feed rates. The proposed models are respectively verified through a series of 3-D Finite Element (FE) simulations and dry cutting experiments of Inconel 718 with chamfered round insert. Satisfactory agreement has been reached between the predictions and simulations as well as the measurements, which confirms the correctness and effectiveness of the presented analytical model. 相似文献

以带有微槽道强化传热面的小型重力型平板热管蒸发器为研究对象,以水-多壁碳纳米管(CNT)组成的纳米悬浮液为工质,在不同运行压力和不同悬浮液质量浓度下对热管蒸发器的沸腾换热特性以及临界热通量(CHF)进行了实验研究.研究证明:以水-多壁碳纳米管组成的纳米悬浮液可以明显地强化重力型平板热管蒸发器的换热特性.沸腾换热系数强化率和CHF强化率随压力降低而大幅度增加.悬浮液质量浓度对沸腾换热系数和CHF也有重要影响,在低质量浓度时,沸腾换热系数和CHF随质量浓度增加而缓慢增加.但是在质量浓度超过2.0%时,质量浓度的影响基本消失. 相似文献
